ORANJE:
ARE THE DUTCH FOR REAL?
Everyone’s knock against the Netherlands coming in was that the defense was everything it was advertised to be, great, but the attack left something to be desired.
Talented, yes, but a cohesive unit up top? Who knows.
Sweden, and all those watching, got an emphatic answer in Houston. (June 20th).
Brobbey bagged 2 inside the opening 17 minutes, scoring the 4th-fastest brace in World Cup history.
Cody Gakpo matched him with 2 more of his own after the break, and Summerville put one away late to make it 5.
A defense plus a forward line that suddenly remembers how to finish after they struggled to create anything of note against the Japanese is a scary thing moving forward. You only have a few games to show you have the right stuff, so the ability to figure it out quickly and translate that change on the pitch is a severely underrated quality for a team to have.
The Oranje looked very much like the real deal. So it makes us wonder, are they contenders to celebrate with the trophy come July 19th, or are they destined to fall short of the ultimate prize?

I wasn’t convinced by their performance against Japan. Having said that, some teams take a game or two to get going. Saturday’s result demonstrated how ruthless they can be in front of goal. Holland, like England are masters of self sabotage, but they have the talent to make it to the last eight.
Great game from Summerville again, his directness is just brilliant
